Elg Chromium Plating S.r.l. continuous chromium-plating systems are the most advanced solution available from an eco-friendly point of view. They use closed cycle technology and work with segregated electrolyte, respecting the working environment.
PROCESS WATER RECYCLING
The water used for washing and the abatement of atmospheric emissions (fumes) is completely recycled and reused to compensate for electrolyte loss due to evaporation. The process does not generate any liquid effluent.
SOIL AND SUBSOIL PROTECTION
Protection of the soil and subsoil is also ensured, thanks to containment of the baths in a double segregated tank, equipped with patented seals, designed and built to operate in a slight vacuum.
MINIMAL WASTE
The chrome-plating electrolyte used with the ECP system is not enriched with iron ions, ensuring improved durability and minimising the production of waste.
ATMOSPHERIC EMISSIONS
The quantity of fumes emitted is very limited and decidedly lower than that generated by traditional systems.
This result is due to the particular segregation of the electrolyte, which operates in a tank that is closed off to the outside environment, the only opening being used to keep the chromium plating chamber in a slight vacuum with a low-flow extractor fan.
The stream of air sucked in, with the fumes developed by the electrolyte surface, is treated in a scrubber abatement system and the abatement water is also recycled and reused to dilute the bath.
Analysis of the air leaving the scrubber contains contaminants (hexavalent chromium and sulphuric acid) in quantities below the limits stipulated by current European and North American legislation.
The working environment is particularly healthy and free of the characteristic odour of traditional chrome plating departments.
