Elg Chromium Plating S.r.l. continuous chromium plating systems are the most advanced solution as far as ecological and environmental issues are concerned.

RECYCLING THE WATER USED FOR THE PROCESS

Water used for washing and for eliminating emissions in the atmosphere (fumes) is completely recycled and reused to compensate for electrolyte evaporation losses. No liquid effluents are generated during the process.

EMISSIONS INTO THE ATMOSPHERE

The amount of fumes generated is very low and significantly lower than those generated using traditional systems. This results from the separation of electrolytes located in a closed basin, separated from the external environment. The only opening present is used to keep the chromium plating chamber under a light low pressure by means of a low flow rate vacuum system/ventilator. The flow of air sucked and the vapours generated from the electrolyte surface are treated inside a scrubber extraction system and the extraction water is recycled and reused to dilute the bath. The analysis of the air coming out of the scrubber shows a content of contaminating agents (hexavalent chromium and sulphuric acid) lower than the threshold limits provided for by the applicable European and North American laws.

The work environment is particularly healthy and does not have the typical smell of traditional chromium plating departments.

PROTECTION OF THE SOIL AND OF THE SUBSOIL

Protection of the soil and of the subsoil is guaranteed by containing the baths in a separated double basin equipped with patented sealing units designed and produces to work under low pressure conditions.

CONCENTRATED WASTE MATERIALS

When the traditional process is used, the electrolyte used for chromium plating undergoes a progressive deterioration, resulting from an increased concentration of iron ions which make electrolyte no longer usable. With the Elg Chromium Plating S.r.l. process, the Ion is not subject to this progressive contamination. The process does not generate waste baths to be eliminated and reduces the costs for the elimination of waste concentration to minimum.
